Description
Come To The Crib is a new Christmas carol for high voices commissioned by Kingswood School. Words by Sue Curtis
A note from Sue Curtis
Come to the Crib is a carol based upon a very simple idea; that God chose to send His Son to earth as a frail human being who would, nevertheless, grow to be a Saviour to the people who protected Him when He was helpless. I thought the idea of a small child containing future power within was one that would resonate with children. It is pure, traditional and simple; heartfelt.
Lyrics of Come To The Crib
Walk through the waiting night
Through the sleeping fields
To the shining light..
Follow the star.
Walk through the waiting night
Through the sleeping fields
To the shining light..
Follow the star.
Come to the crib, Shepherd,
Don’t be afraid.
Here is the child, Shepherd,
Here is the Maid.
Take up thy lamb, Shepherd,
Take up thy lamb.
Cover him warm, Shepherd,
Close as you can..
Walk through the waiting night
Through the sleeping fields
To the shining light..
Follow the star.
Walk through the waiting night
Through the sleeping fields
To the shining light..
Follow the star.
He is a child, Shepherd,
Helpless and new,
But when he’s grown, Shepherd
He’ll carry you.
He is a child, Shepherd,
Helpless and new,
But when he’s grown, Shepherd
He’ll carry you.
Yes, He’ll carry you..
Walk through the waiting night
Through the sleeping fields
To the shining light
Follow the star…
Walk through the waiting night
Through the sleeping fields
To the shining light
Follow the star…
