For this all important second album, Beth worked with producer and guitarist Luke Cawthra. She has written a wonderful set of songs and Luke helped capture them with a rawness and energy that is a step up from debut album Open Doors.

I helped with overall arrangement on Rear View, You’ve Always Been and The Game, and arranged strings for Wake Me. And played piano.

Beth is one of my favourite musicians. She has been a massive inspiration since we started playing together as The Golden Eggs back in 2009.

Marshes feat. Beth Porter

The album is the first under new name, Marshes feat. Beth Porter, which has taken over from Beth Porter and the Availables as Beth’s main solo performing name. Beth remains a member of superstar folk duo The Bookshop Band with her husband Ben Please.

I was lucky enough to be at the Royal Albert Hall for the Lost Words Prom over the summer. Beth performed solo with the BBC Symphony Orchestra (as well as in a fabulous folk group).

I consider her one of the greatest solo writers and performers of our generation… and can’t wait for the next album!
